Lotto King Karl, a beloved figure in the city of Hamburg, made headlines at the "Movie meets Media" gala hosted by party pope Sören Bauer. However, the celebrations took a drastic turn when Lotto—whose real name is Gerrit Heesemann—slipped on a slippery road, resulting in a triple foot fracture that landed him in the hospital.

Gerrit started his rise to fame playing himself in the popular 2003 film "Der letzte Lude" as "Stullen-Andi," resulting in a significant fanbase among HSV supporters. With Lotto's infectious energy, he became the iconic stadium announcer for the HSV for 14 years, singing anthems and enthusiastically commentating on matches in front of the North Stand.

The accident left Lotto with a challenging recovery ahead. “I’ve never broken anything before, this is the first time,” he shared. “I’ll have to do a lot of physio after the operation and be on crutches. We are now working with my management to reschedule the concert dates. I had to cancel the next two in Lübeck and Hanover completely.”

The fans of the cult singer continued to show their support, with Lotto receiving more than 3,000 letters contingent with his hospital stay. Despite his injury, Lotto's spirit remained unbreakable, reading each letter to bolster his strength and resilience.

However, Lotto was not able to escape the reality of the situation. He watched in dismay as his beloved HSV suffered a 2-1 loss against Hertha BSC Berlin in the DFB Cup as a hospital patient. Lotto shared his thoughts on the unfortunate result: "It's a shame that we lost. The stadium announcer was always talking during the penalty shoot-out when it was an HSV player's turn. We wouldn't have done that in Hamburg."

Even amidst these challenging circumstances, Lotto King Karl remains a symbol of resilience and dedication for his supporters. His unwavering love for HSV and his city shines through the adversity as he continues to heal and rebuild his career.
