Trinbago Knight Riders Secure Qualifier 2 Spot in CPL 2025 Following Eliminator Win Against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Thanks to Pooran's Leading Performance
Trinbago Knight Riders Advance to Qualifier 2 of CPL 2025
In an exciting Eliminator match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) defeated the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by 9 wickets, securing their place in Qualifier 2.
The Falcons, after being put into bat, managed to score 166 runs, thanks in part to a 108-run second-wicket partnership between Amir Jangoo (55 runs) and Andries Gous (61 runs). However, quick wicket losses stifled their run rate, preventing a significantly higher total. Gous and Jangoo's partnership also set a new CPL record for the Falcons.
For TKR, Saurabh Netravalkar took 3 wickets for 23 runs, while Usman Tariq claimed 2 wickets for 19 runs.
In response, TKR's Nicholas Pooran led the charge, surviving two LBW reviews during his crucial knock. He accelerated the chase with power hitting in the death overs, scoring 90 not out. Alex Hales provided TKR with stability during the chase, contributing an unbeaten 54.
Pooran's innings was marked by a flurry of boundaries off Shakib Al Hasan and two sixes off Rahkeem Cornwall's final over. He secured the win with a final six off Jayden Seales.
With this elimination, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons' CPL 2025 campaign comes to an end. On the other hand, the Trinbago Knight Riders will face the Barbados Royals in Qualifier 2 of the CPL 2025. The winner of this match will advance to the CPL 2025 final.
