Tribal Parliament Model launched to empower grassroots leadership in Cachar
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the Tribal Parliament Model in Cachar, Silchar, on Saturday, January 22, 2023, as part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan during the Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas event. This initiative aims to empower grassroots leadership and ensure faster service delivery to tribal communities.
The event commemorated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a heroic figure who fought for tribal rights and dignity. Minister Kaushik Rai, along with DC Mridul Yadav and senior officials, offered floral tributes to Munda. The event drew a large crowd, including tribal leaders, citizens, students, officials, and youth from across Lakhipur district.
The Tribal Parliament Model launch is part of several government schemes transforming tribal lives. These include the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, MGNREGA, DAJGUA, and 15th Finance Commission Grants. The Minister praised the District Administration's initiatives in tribal belts, such as health camps, financial literacy drives, and cultural programmes. Social security interventions like PMAY, Old Age Pension, and Orunodoi 3.0 also reinforce dignity and financial support for vulnerable households.
The launch of the Tribal Parliament Model signals the government's commitment to empowering tribal communities and ensuring better service delivery. The event, held in honour of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, highlighted the importance of preserving tribal culture and heritage while driving development and progress.
