Triathlon craze hits Apian-Gymnasium: Ingolstadt's Under-16 squad advances to the National Finals
The Apian Gymnasium U16 Mixed Team has made history by qualifying for the national finals of the triathlon, to be held in Berlin from 21st to 25th September. This achievement comes after a successful performance at the Bavarian Schools Triathlon Finals, held at the South West District Sports Facility.
Approximately 300 students from eight schools participated in the Apian School Triathlon, a competition that emphasises sportsmanship and fair competition. The triathletes in both competitions demonstrated a joyful and fair spirit, reflecting the focus of the event.
The Apian Gymnasium U16 Mixed Team, coached by Fabian Aumann, Martin Rocholl, Richard Uebersezig, and BTV trainer Roland Knoll, was able to withstand heavy rain during the competition. Their preparation for the event included numerous training sessions, focusing on swimming, cycling, running, and transitions, combined with strength and conditioning as well as recovery.
The team's hard work paid off, as they won the WK III - U16 - Mixed Teams competition with a lead of 1 minute and 20 seconds over Ohm Gymnasium Erlangen. The triathletes competed in swimming, cycling, and running under the eyes of numerous spectators, showcasing their skills and determination.
The Apian School Triathlon does not require high-tech equipment; a swimsuit and city bike are sufficient for participation. The gymnasium has been hosting the Bavarian Schools Triathlon Finals for many years, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents.
As the national finals approach, the Apian Gymnasium U16 Mixed Team is gearing up for another challenging competition. Their journey so far is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and the effective coaching provided by their trainers. The whole school community is eagerly awaiting their performance in Berlin.
