Trial Witness Count to Increase for Individual Charged with Trump's Assassination Conspiracy Plot

The high-profile trial of Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, is ongoing. The proceedings began on Thursday with opening statements, and Federal Judge Aileen Cannon allowed both Routh and the government prosecutors 40 minutes for their statements.

The prosecution called the Secret Service agent who thwarted the shooting, Robert Fercano, as their first witness. Fercano's testimony was followed by a good Samaritan, Tommy McGee, who spotted Routh fleeing from the scene and had the wherewithal to write down his license plate number.

Routh, who is representing himself, has been floundering throughout the proceedings with bizarre questions on cross-examination. His rambling opening statement was shut down by Judge Cannon in under 10 minutes as it didn't pertain to the facts of the case.

Routh was spotted on airport security cameras, lurking by windows of PBI's terminal as "Trump Force One" was on the runway. The prosecution claims Routh's plan to assassinate Trump was "carefully crafted and deadly serious." More details of Routh's plot will be revealed in the trial, including how he enlisted two friends to help purchase the rifle and how Routh stalked Trump and attempted to learn his movements.

The plan involved 10 phones, including burner phones, three aliases, stolen license plates, and a trail of lies from Hawaii to West Palm Beach. Routh suggested that his intent was not to kill Trump, but did not present any evidence to support his claim.

The prosecution has summoned a total of 38 witnesses over seven days to support the charges against Routh. However, two character witnesses Routh intended to bring to court would be unavailable. The second witness was McGee, the Samaritan who spotted Routh fleeing from the scene. The third witness for the prosecution is a Secret Service agent who was at Trump International on the day of the attempted assassination.

The prosecution witness called on the second day of the trial against Routh has not been specifically named in the available search results. The trial is expected to delve deeper into the details of Routh's plot, shedding light on this significant event in recent American history.

Judge Cannon has had to send the jury away for a second time due to Routh's references to historical figures like Hitler and Putin during his testimony. The court proceedings continue, with Routh facing a potential life sentence if found guilty.
