Trial initiated by judge involving Raúl Asencio and three other former athletes, accused of disseminating explicit videos
The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has ordered four individuals, including a defender for Real Madrid, Raúl Asencio, and three former players of the club's affiliate chain, to stand trial. The accused are Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García.
The investigation, which is still ongoing, revolves around the unauthorized recording and distribution of sexualized videos involving two young women, one of whom is a minor. The evidence includes witness testimonies, video dissemination via phones, and data extraction from the suspects' phones to confirm filming and sharing activities.
Raúl Asencio, apart from being accused of distributing the videos, is not accused of being the author of the recordings. However, Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García, in addition to being accused of distributing the videos, are also accused of being the authors of the recordings without consent.
The bail amounts for Raúl Asencio and the other three individuals differ due to the additional allegations against the first three. Court Number 3 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana in Gran Canaria has mandated individual bail of 20,000 euros for Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García, due to their alleged role as authors of the recordings. Raúl Asencio is required to post bail of 15,000 euros.
The recordings in question were made without the consent of the affected parties, causing significant distress to the two young women involved. The case highlights the importance of consent and privacy, especially in sensitive situations.
The distribution of these videos has brought unwanted attention to the individuals and the football club they are associated with. Real Madrid has not issued a public statement regarding the matter, but it is clear that the club will need to address the situation appropriately to ensure the integrity and reputation of the organisation are upheld.
As the investigation continues, it is crucial to remember that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The court proceedings will provide a platform for the accused to present their defence and for the truth to be revealed.
