Trial begins for accused individuals linked to the lethal Moscow concert hall bombing, which claimed 149 lives
Trial Continues for Suspected Attackers of Crocus City Hall in Moscow
The trial for the suspected perpetrators of the deadly attack on Crocus City Hall, which took place on the outskirts of Moscow on March 22, 2021, is currently ongoing. The Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for the attack that shocked Russia, injuring hundreds of people and resulting in the deaths of 149 individuals.
The trial, which began on August 4, 2025, involves 19 defendants, including four Tajik nationals accused of carrying out the attack and 15 others charged as accomplices. The four main suspects—Dalerjon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni, and Muhammadsobir Faizov—were arrested shortly after the attack and appeared with signs of having been beaten.
The trial is being held under a three-judge panel from the Second Western District Military Court at the Moscow City Court. Initially open to the public, the proceedings were later closed to protect the safety of those involved and to discuss sensitive evidence. Some defendants are held in glass enclosures and handcuffed.
According to the state TASS news agency, nearly half of the victims from the attack died from smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation, not from gunfire. Russian authorities have alleged Ukrainian involvement without public evidence, an allegation that Kyiv deemed baseless and absurd.
The trial is a high-profile terrorism case centered on the involvement of the four Tajik gunmen and a wider network accused of aiding them. Survivors of the attack are present during the hearings, which are conducted with tight security due to the attack’s severity and political sensitivity.
The court's website states that subsequent hearings are scheduled for tomorrow and Thursday. The trial is being reported by AFP.

Despite the ongoing trial for the Crocus City Hall attack in Moscow, the accused have shown no remorse, as evidenced by the four main suspects who were arrested immediately after the attack and appeared to have been beaten. The general news in Malaysia is also following the court proceedings, as political sensitivities and the saga of crime and justice continue to unfold.
The high-profile terrorism trial in Moscow, which began on August 4, 2025, has raised questions about international involvement, with Russian authorities alleging Ukrainian complicity, albeit without any substantiated proof, while Kyiv has dismissed these claims as baseless and absurd. Such international implications could spark discussions related to war-and-conflicts and politics.
