Treasure Found: 1,051 Silver Coins and 5 Gold Escudos from 1715 Fleet Recovered
A specialized diving team has unearthed a significant portion of the '1715 Treasure Fleet' during the 2025 summer cleanup in Florida. The discovery was made by Capt. Levin Shavers and the crew of the M/V Just Right. This is not the first time artifacts from the '1715 Treasure Fleet' have been recovered. In 2018, a cannon was found, and various artifacts were discovered in 2021. Experts believe there is still more treasure to be found from the fleet, which sank off Florida's coast in 1715 due to a violent hurricane. The fleet was carrying $400 million worth of gold, silver, and jewelry at the time of its sinking.
