Travis Decker identified as the sole suspect in the murders of his daughters, according to the sheriff's department's latest findings.

Missing Army Veteran Charged with Murdering His Daughters

In the picturesque Cascades region, known for its backcountry hiking and camping, a tragic discovery was made near a campsite on late May. The bodies of three young girls were found, and their father, Travis Decker, has since been charged with their murder.

The evidence supporting Decker as the sole suspect in this heinous crime primarily comes from DNA findings at the crime scene. His DNA was found on plastic bags that were placed over the girls' heads and on cable ties discovered near the bodies. No other DNA profiles were identified on these items. The victims' DNA was also found on the plastic bags, fortifying the connection.

Furthermore, bloody handprints on the tailgate of Decker's vehicle, which was found abandoned at Rock Island Campground, approximately 100 yards away from where the girls' bodies were found, matched his DNA profile. The autopsy confirmed suffocation as the cause of death, consistent with the use of plastic bags.

Travis Decker, a man currently wanted by authorities, is suspected of murdering his three daughters: Olivia (5 years old), Evelyn (8 years old), and Paityn (9 years old). The police affidavit did not specify the exact date when the girls' bodies were found, but the search for Decker has been ongoing since then.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office believes that Decker is the only suspect in this crime based on the evidence found at the scene. Zip ties and plastic bags were found strewn throughout the area where the girls' bodies were discovered. Decker's truck was found abandoned on June 2, suggesting he may be on foot, which could slow down his mobility.

Local, state, and federal officials have been searching for Decker, an Army veteran skilled in wilderness survival, without knowing whether he is still alive. The search has been conducted using drones, swift water teams, cadaver dogs, and GoPros.

The sheriff hopes that the influx of summer travelers to the Cascades might aid in the search for Decker. The US Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to Decker’s arrest.

Travis Decker was reported missing by his daughters' mother days after they were found dead, when he failed to return them after a scheduled three-hour visit as part of a custody agreement. Decker may have stashed supplies out in the woods, as he left equipment behind at the scene. Each victim was found with multiple plastic bags over their heads. Olivia had one bag, Evelyn had two, and Paityn had three.

Authorities have stated that the DNA analysis "provides additional evidence that indicates Travis Decker is the only suspect involved in committing these homicides" and no evidence points to anyone else’s involvement. Despite an ongoing manhunt, law enforcement continues to regard him as armed and dangerous and the sole individual responsible.
