Traveling Metal Steed from Paris Olympics Hits the Road in France (and Germany)

Zeus, the mechanical horse that stole the show at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, is embarking on a tour of France, with a confirmed summer stay at Mont-Saint-Michel until early September 2025.

This contemporary artwork, representing Sequana, the goddess of the Seine, worshipped by pre-Roman Gaulish tribes, will be exhibited on the abbey’s western terrace, offering a striking contrast between the ancient monument and the modern sculpture. The tour, which includes stops in Montpellier, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, and Rouen, among others, will provide a special dialogue for visitors.

Before Mont-Saint-Michel, Zeus was displayed in iconic locations such as Paris and Versailles, attracting around 500,000 visitors since its initial Olympic exhibition. The mechanical horse, created by Atelier Blam, a Nantes-based studio, has been touring France since the Olympics, with stops near Sanofi sites and at emblematic places of French heritage.

While Zeus is currently in Mont-Saint-Michel, there is no public schedule indicating a tour in Germany as of now. However, the tour is expected to include a stop in Frankfurt, Germany, before returning to France.

Zeus's tour is part of the broader HORSES 2025 Festival, which runs from June 21 to July 30, celebrating horses through performances and thematic events. While Zeus is connected to this celebration, the exact dates for its stops besides Mont-Saint-Michel and some French venues have not been specified.

If you wish to visit Zeus at Mont-Saint-Michel, check the abbey's official site for opening times and ticket prices. The tour will also include the Science Lab, a traveling educational exhibition, during certain sections of its route, inviting the public to discover the process of creating medicines and vaccines of the future.

As Zeus continues its journey across France, it promises to captivate audiences with its blend of history, art, and technology, creating a unique and engaging experience for all.

Enjoying the IMAX experience at Montpellier's Odysseum, you might find yourself reflecting on the advances in technology showcased in movies-and-tv, similarly to how Zeus, the mechanical horse, reflects the merge of tradition and modernity. During your visit to Zeus at Mont-Saint-Michel, don't miss the opportunity to engage with the Science Lab, a traveling educational exhibition that offers insights into the world of entertainment and education by demonstrating the process of creating medicines and vaccines of the future.
