Transforming Blog Content into Engaging Social Media Updates
Modern Marketing Tricks: Chronically Captivating Your Audience on Social Media
Attention spans are remarkably shorter today, 'cause dun, dun, dun... it's all about the quick dopamine hits from those fun apps, baby! Flashing lights, winning big, or the likes and comments on social media – they're all designed to keep us coming back for more. But as a smarty marketer, you can use this to your advantage by repurposing your blog content to cater to different attention spans.
Who Exactly's Your Target Market?
Before diving headfirst into this, you gotta figure out who your audience is. Are they the ones with the short attention span who will click on anything flashy and make an impulsive buy? Or are they deep thinkers, taking time to learn about what you're offering and more likely to stick around for life?
Each type calls for a unique approach, but both can benefit from social media posts – just remember the call-to-action differs for each.
Repurpose Your Blog Content like a Boss
As you write, bear in mind the final product. Will you present the problem, offer a solution, then end it on a high note? Or are there multiple solutions?
Take, for example, my post on leveraging a book to boost your reputation (screenshot below). Regardless of whether you wrote it yourself or used a phantom writer like Scott Sery, the options are numerous. In this post, I included eye-catching graphics alongside each section. These are pieces of blog content I can repurpose as social media posts. I grab the image, summarize the section, and, voila!, they go on Facebook or LinkedIn. Since my target audience is a bit longer-attention-spanned, I use these short posts to reel them in and my call-to-action is a link back to the actual post, where I invite them to meet and discuss their book goals.
Sometimes, though, blogs lack these easily digestible sections. When that happens, don't fret – you can still repurpose the content, it just might not be a series of smaller posts leading you back to your site. Instead, use the header image, write a teaser, and pop a link in there. It's not as impactful, but it's quick and easy, and it can drive some traffic.
Even those posts that don’t seem like they lend themselves easily to repurposing can be broken down. This very post has at least three juicy insights that could be transformed into bite-sized social media content.

Why don't companies do this shit?
'Cause it takes valuable time. Most of them don't even have time to write the damn blog, let alone consider its repurposing potential. That's precisely why I'm here.
