Transformed Tangible Idea: Nymfo ponders over the initial year of Love For Low Frequencies (LFLF) project

Nymfo, the drum and bass veteran, launched Love For Low Frequencies (LFLF) a year ago, and the electronic music label has since gained a dedicated following and over a dozen releases. The label's unique approach, characterized by a strong connection with artists and a focus on positive vibes and good energy, has resonated with the bass music community.

The inaugural year of LFLF has not been without challenges. There have been delays with the masters, taking a little longer than expected. However, Nymfo, who sees taking on the role of a label boss as a natural evolution due to age and being a father, remains proud of the label's success but didn't expect such positive feedback.

To mark the label's first anniversary, a documentary titled 'For The Love Of Low Frequencies' was premiered last week at Melkweg, Amsterdam. The documentary, which has two versions, builds up to the first label night during ADE. The first version features a single-shot intro from Star Warz, while the second version has a fast-paced intro with Bardo DJing around the world. Both versions include interviews with all the artists on the label and feature many shots of Nymfo from back in the day, edited with footage from Nymfo's set at Star Warz in 2005 and an old compilation video.

Nymfo communicates well with the artists he signs, a difference from some other labels. He also has a certain creative margin for the artists on the label, allowing them to express their unique styles. This approach is reflected in the diverse range of releases on LFLF, showcasing the talent and creativity of the artists.

In addition to the music releases, LFLF has also been hosting a monthly showcase on Kool FM. The label's focus on events is set to expand, with plans for showcases in new locations. The LFLF showcase is planned at a new location in the north of Amsterdam during ADE. Another showcase is planned at the Liquicity Festival, to be announced soon. International expansion is also on the horizon, with the UK being a target for one of the next foreign showcases.

Moreover, Nymfo aims to expand the visual presentation and work towards a wider line-up and a bigger budget for the showcases. The LFLF showcase is also planned in Ghent, Belgium on June 21st.

Lars Dingeman from Triple Vision helps Nymfo with the label's scheduling, ensuring that the releases are well-timed and the showcases are well-organised. Nymfo gets a lot of energy from running LFLF and finds it a natural fit, allowing him to continue performing while not having to do it every weekend.

The documentary is now available on LFLF's YouTube channel, providing fans with a glimpse into the label's journey, challenges, aspirations, and the people behind it. With its strong identity, diverse roster, and ambitious plans for the future, Love For Low Frequencies is poised to continue making waves in the bass music scene.

  1. Fans can eagerly anticipate the upcoming shows scheduled by Love For Low Frequencies, with showcases planned in new locations and at the Liquicity Festival.
  2. The success of Love For Low Frequencies is not limited to music releases; their focus on events, visual presentation, and international expansion is paving the way for an aspirational brand in the entertainment industry, especially bass music.
