The Volleyball Bundesliga of women is set to return to its traditional format, featuring 12 teams and a classic main round with home and away games, followed by playoffs starting on March 21, 2026. One of the teams eagerly anticipating the new season is VC Wiesbaden, who have undergone a significant restructuring and are now financially consolidated.

VC Wiesbaden's Women's Team Ready for Action

The e.V. itself works with an annual budget of approximately 200,000 euros, while the professional team, including VCW II, operates on a budget of around 1.5 million euros for high-level operations. The women's team for the 2025/26 season boasts international talents such as Sanne Konijnenberg (21, Netherlands), Jimena Fernández Gayoso (24, Spain), Cayetana López Rey (20, Spain), and Pleun van der Pijl (22, Netherlands).

Marlene Rieger (18) has joined VC Wiesbaden's Bundesliga team permanently, adding youthful energy and potential to the squad. Tigin Yaglioglu (34) will lead the team as head coach for the 2025/26 season.

Sporting Mission and Vision

Sports Director Benedikt Frank outlines the sporting mission: "We want to reach national finals and play in the Champions League by 2030." VC Wiesbaden's vision for 2030 is to reach national finals and make it to the Champions League.

The first home game for VC Wiesbaden in the 2025/26 season is on October 19, 2025, against Skurios Volleys Borken. The DVV Cup round of 16 for VC Wiesbaden will be against Aachen on November 8/9, 2025.

Strategic Changes and Talent Development

Thomas Utsch, an experienced corporate leader and restructuring expert, joined the team in the fall of 2024. Since autumn 2024, he has taken a leading role in the management of VC Wiesbaden, serving pro bono as co-managing director alongside Christopher Fetting since September 2025. Utsch is implementing the strategy "VCW@2030", which defines four key themes: economic efficiency, talent development, home games as events, and brand identity.

Under the title "Home for Female Professionals", VC Wiesbaden offers modules beyond pure sports, aiming to prepare players for life after sports. The second women's team, previously third in the 2. Bundesliga South, is now part of the GmbH, integrating talent development and high-performance sports more closely than before.

Nina Wienand Herelová (32) has ended her active career at VC Wiesbaden and taken on a role in partner management and club development. She will serve as the direct contact person for sponsors and supporters at VC Wiesbaden, maintaining and expanding existing partnerships.

Three doubleheader days in Wiesbaden during the 2025/26 season are scheduled for November 1, 2025, January 11, and February 14, 2026.
