Morton Enterprises Inc. has embarked on a transformative journey aimed at revolutionising its operations and creating a new corporate culture. Named the Global Process Excellence (GPE) initiative, this holistic approach aims to drive improvement across the entire operation, making it a game-changer in the industry.

The executive spearheading this transformation recognised several environmental factors that needed addressing. These included improving profitability, responding to customer expectations, adopting lean operations, creating best-in-class capabilities, enabling profitable growth, and leveraging employee expertise.

Upon completing visits to various Distribution Centres around the world, the executive observed that these facilities had been operating as isolated entities. This led to added costs, inefficient operations, different business controls, lack of benchmarking, and inconsistent customer experiences.

Recognising the global nature of the change, the executive spent the next 2-3 months visiting Distribution Centres worldwide to learn about the operations, meet the people, and understand each process. This comprehensive understanding formed the foundation of the GPE strategy.

The executive named the transformation effort as "Global Process Excellence" and focused on creating a name that would become the brand for the entire Global Operations and Supply Chain team. The strategy aimed to engage employees and create a culture that embraced the transformation.

Each Distribution Centre had customised its processes, IT systems, and organisation in unique ways, leading to over 20 different ways of performing the same processes. To address this, the GPE aimed to tackle all processes that govern the way a Distribution Centre operates every day and everywhere, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

The GPE initiative is designed to be a game-changer, driving improvement across the entire operation and creating a united, efficient, and customer-focused organisation. The journey has begun, and Morton Enterprises Inc. is poised to lead the way in operational excellence.
