Transferring Cod Skins: Essential Tips for Smooth Transition Across Different Games
In the world of Call of Duty, the transfer of skins and other cosmetics between games has become a hot topic among players. Let's take a closer look at the current situation regarding the transfer of skins from Modern Warfare III to Black Ops 6.
At present, skins, operators, blueprints, and other cosmetics purchased in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone remain tied to those games and are not usable in Black Ops 6 due to the lack of a carry-forward feature between these two titles. However, there is a possibility that future Black Ops games might support cosmetic carry-forward. Reports suggest that skins and blueprints from Black Ops 6 may carry over to Black Ops 7, but this feature is not confirmed and was not applied going backward from Modern Warfare 3 to Black Ops 6.
On the other hand, COD Points (the in-game currency used for cosmetics) can be transferred and used across titles like Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops 6, but this only applies to currency, not skins themselves. COD Points follow strict rules about how they move between games and platforms, and cannot be transferred between different accounts or gaming systems. If you upgrade within the same console family, your full points balance travels with you. However, COD Points don't travel across platforms, they are platform-specific.
Items bought with COD Points permanently attach to your Activision account, not the platform. This means that even if you switch devices, your purchased items will still be accessible, providing a sense of continuity for players.
The approach taken by Activision seems to be a balancing act between maintaining player loyalty and creating fresh content for each new release. Most skins don't carry over between different Call of Duty titles. Each game has its own unique cosmetic system. Vehicle skins, wartracks, and some limited-time cosmetics often do not transfer between games, staying in their original title.
The "Carry Forward" Program, which allows skins from Modern Warfare II to transfer to Modern Warfare III, does not include wartracks, limited-time cosmetics, or vehicle skins in the transfer. This program does not extend to Black Ops 6, highlighting the current divide in the transfer of cosmetics between titles.
As for the future, players can expect more cross-game compatibility, especially for premium skins that cost real money. Call of Duty also plans to expand its skin options with more crossover characters and movie tie-ins. The goal seems to be keeping players happy by letting them keep the stuff they paid for, no matter which Call of Duty title they play.
