Transfer Process Details: Swap of Equity Shares and Financial Obligations Adjustments
In a sensational trial that has captured public attention, Christina Block, an heiress to a family business, stands accused of commissioning a global security firm—which included Israeli spies—to conduct a violent, cross-border kidnapping of her two youngest children amid a bitter custody dispute.
The trial, which is currently ongoing, is centred around the allegations of aggravated child abduction, grievous bodily harm, and unlawful detention. The involvement of such a firm is crucial to the charges against Christina Block, given the complex, international nature of the custody battle between her and her ex-husband in Germany.
The prosecution alleges that the security firm was used to facilitate the children’s removal against court orders in a context involving multiple jurisdictions and severe allegations. The claim is that the firm was hired to orchestrate an orchestrated effort to forcibly abduct her children across borders as part of the custody conflict.
The abduction is alleged to have occurred in the night of December 31, 2023 to January 1, 2024. Four days after the abduction, the children were returned to their father in Denmark on order of the Higher Regional Court. However, the return was not without controversy, as Christina Block reports a failed attempt by her parents to see their grandchildren again in January 2023, which resulted in her mother's death a few months later.
The prosecution accuses Christina Block of commissioning the abduction, citing a note from an Israeli intermediary stating that the topic of custody disputes was mentioned early on when hiring the firm. Christina Block, however, cannot explain this.
The defence, on the other hand, accuses Christina Block of not having exhausted all family law options in Denmark before resorting to such extreme measures. Ingo Bott, Christina Block’s defence lawyer, frequently interjects, finding many questions from the representative of the injured party inadmissible or incorrectly phrased. Philip von der Meden, the defence lawyer for the accused, is questioning the accused for the first time.
The trial has attracted significant public attention due to its severity and the alleged involvement of intelligence operatives, including former heads of Germany’s domestic intelligence service. The investigation has also revealed that the Israeli security firm was hired for cybersecurity checks at the Elyseé Hotel, which belongs to the Block Group.
In August 2021, the father kept the two children with him after a weekend visit, leading to the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court granting the mother sole custody and ordering the father to hand over the children. Despite this, the Danish justice system refused to enforce the decision, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
The questioning is focused on the custody dispute between the former spouses over their children. Christina Block gave her partner, Gerhard Delling, the number of the phone handed over by the kidnappers to pass on to the police. However, Christina Block claims she only learned about the allegations of violence during the abduction of her children from the media days later. The children's mouths were covered with adhesive tape, and the daughter was tied up by the hands.
The trial continues, with the fate of the children hanging in the balance. The public awaits the verdict, which could potentially reshape the lives of all parties involved.
