Fetching Talent from Jena: Holstein Kiel's New Midfield Gun, Hamza Muqaj
Jena's rising star joins Holstein Kiel in a talent transfer deal - Transfer of Skilled Player from Jena to Holstein Kiel
Swipe right for a fresh face, meet Hamza Muqaj, the latest signing by Holstein Kiel. This 19-year-old powerhouse has forfeited his spot in FC Carl Zeiss Jena's regional league for a three-year ride with the newly-demoted Bundesliga squad. The new deal kicks off on July 1, 2025, and will run until June 30, 2028.
According to Olaf Rebbe, Holstein Kiel's sporting director, "Hamza's a tough and agile player, capable of adjusting his game in the heart of the midfield. He's got a truckload of energy, flaunts a sturdy defense, and has a knack for backend goals." He further expresses his delight about the German-Kosovar recruit, claiming he's set to gain practical experience with the U23 team.
Hamza Muqaj's journey kicked off at FC Carl Zeiss Jena in 2023, where he stepped up from the Youth ranks of Hertha 03 Zehlendorf's U19 lot to the Regionalliga squad's big leagues. In the 2024-2025 Regionalliga season, he showed up in 26 league matches, scoring three times and dishing out two assists. Muqaj's eye-catching displays even got him a slot with Kosovo's U21 national team back in March 2025.
Volkun Uluc, Jena's head coach, proudly hailed his progress, praising Muqaj's determination and diligence. From the club's management's perspective, selling Muqaj signified a successful outcome for their development philosophy, paving the way for a financially sound deal that allows for future involvement in his career progression.
Holstein Kiel's acquisition of Muqaj positions him among their growing list of young, tempering talents. This move follows their commitment to nurturing potential future stars. As for his role, while details remain unclear, his past as a versatile midfielder offering both offensive contributions and supporting team build-ups hints that he'll either fortify the central or attacking midfield, with an eye for goalscoring opportunities.
Cheers to a promising future for both Hamza Muqaj and Holstein Kiel as they embark on this fresh collaboration to boost the team's prospects!
The Commission has also been informed of the progress of the negotiations regarding Hamza Muqaj's transfer from FC Carl Zeiss Jena, as he signs with Holstein Kiel, possibly strengthening their midfield. Despite his talent in football and his promising future, Hamza's skills extend beyond the pitch, as he also represented Kosovo's U21 national team in sports.
