Transfer negotiation advancement at Manchester United: 'Significant' accord completed concerning future player acquisition

Manchester United and AC Milan in Talks Over Potential Loan Deal for Rasmus Hojlund

In the ongoing summer transfer window, Manchester United and AC Milan are in negotiations over a potential loan deal for Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker, who joined United in 2023 for a fee of £67.65m, is now open to a move to Milan, following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford.

AC Milan are keen on securing a loan deal with an option, ideally with a permanent element attached. The Rossoneri are aiming for a total fee of €35 million, including a buyout of €30-32m and a loan fee. Milan sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed ongoing interest, but the transfer market can be uncertain, and no final agreement has been announced yet.

Manchester United values Hojlund at around £30 million (€34.6 million), roughly matching the €35 million fee mentioned. United would be willing to let Hojlund go on loan to help with their finances, as they have been one of the top spenders in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko to their squad this summer, and they are looking to add a goalkeeper and another midfielder. By allowing Hojlund to leave on loan, United could seriously help their financial situation, especially considering they have not made any sales to bring in funds, unlike Chelsea and Liverpool.

Rasmus Hojlund himself is now focused on receiving a proposal from Milan, where he sees himself in their project. If Milan, or any other interested team, buy Hojlund before the end of the financial year next June, Hojlund will help United with their bid to pass the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Inter Milan have also shown interest in Hojlund, but as of mid-August 2025, the negotiations between Manchester United and AC Milan are the most advanced. The transfer window closes on September 1, so a decision is expected soon.

Rasmus Hojlund's potential loan deal to AC Milan could be facilitated by Manchester United's financial needs, as they have been one of the major spenders in the European-leagues' transfer market this summer. Despite Inter Milan's interest, the negotiations between Manchester United and AC Milan are the most advanced, with AC Milan aiming for a total fee of €35 million, including a buyout clause.
