VfB Stuttgart player, Millot, transfers to a Saudi Arabian club - Transfer: Millot shifts from VfB Stuttgart to Saudi Arabian club
Stuttgart Bids Farewell to Enzo Millot as He Joins Al-Ahli for €30 Million
Enzo Millot, a key player for VfB Stuttgart under current coach Sebastian Hoeneß, has completed a high-profile transfer to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia for a reported €28 million fee, potentially rising to over €30 million with bonuses. The 23-year-old French attacking midfielder leaves Stuttgart after a successful spell that included a crucial role in their 2023/24 Bundesliga second-place finish and DFB-Pokal win last season.
Millot scored two goals in the DFB-Pokalfinal against Arminia Bielefeld (4:2), showcasing his impact on the team. His departure leaves a gap in Stuttgart's attacking midfield, but as of now, no official announcements about incoming replacements or other transfer moves have been reported.
Stuttgart may be monitoring the transfer market for potential recruits, but the focus is currently on the completion of Millot's move and his new role under Al-Ahli's German coach Matthias Jaissle, who values Millot’s Bundesliga experience. Jaissle was previously at Hoffenheim and is said to have played a role in Millot's signing.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart has said goodbye to loan players El Bilal Touré, Fabian Rieder, and Jacob Bruun Larsen. The possible signing of Giannis Konstantelias from PAOK Saloniki fell through, and there has been no movement in the Nick Woltemade transfer saga. Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, has confirmed that a transfer for Woltemade is "off the table," but left the door open for the transfer period ending on September 1.
Stuttgart would still be well-staffed in attack with national player Deniz Undav and Ermedin Demirovic, even if Woltemade were to leave. Fabio Vieira from FC Arsenal is being mentioned, but a transfer is not imminent. Sven Mislintat, Stuttgart's sporting director, has rejected an offer from FC Bayern Munich.
Millot, who had previously expressed his desire to leave Stuttgart to the club's management, won the Asian Champions League title with Al-Ahli's coach Matthias Jaissle at an earlier stage in his career. Silas Katompa Mvumpa, another Stuttgart player, does not seem to have a big role under Hoeneß.
