New Defender Joins HSV: Jordan Torunarigha Signs for Hamburg's Bundesliga Team

HSV secures the second transfer: Torunarigha now on board - Transfer confirms: Torunarigha joins HSV permanently

Get ready, Bundesliga fans! Hamburg's newest addition to the roster is here, as defender Jordan Torunarigha officially signed with Hamburger SV (HSV). Formerly a Hertha BSC professional, Torunarigha joins HSV on a free transfer from KAA Gent in Belgium.

With 73 Bundesliga games under his belt for Hertha BSC Berlin, Torunarigha is no stranger to the German top-flight. HSV sporting director Stefan Kuntz, who previously coached Torunarigha when he was with the German U21 national team, believes the center-back's speed, strong heading, and tackling skills will make a significant impact on the HSV defense.

Born in Chemnitz, this Nigerian international now adds his professional experience to HSV, becoming the team's second new signing after defensive midfielder Nicolai Remberg from Holstein Kiel.

"Jordan is a clear, professional, and mature character," Kuntz commented on Torunarigha. "He's made a lot of progress in recent years, and his transition back to German football with HSV will undoubtedly continue to foster that progress."

Jordan Torunarigha

A central defender, Jordan Torunarigha has left behind a successful career in the Belgian top-flight to return to his homeland and play for HSV in the Bundesliga. Torunarigha started his football journey at Chemnitzer FC before joining Hertha BSC's academy at the age of nine, transitioning from a striker to a defender role. After making 73 top-flight appearances for Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga, Torunarigha transferred to KAA Gent in July 2022, accumulating 145 competitive matches in the Jupiler Pro League and other competitions there.

In addition to his club career, Torunarigha's path has been marked by his advocacy and experiences in addressing racial issues in German football.

HSV, Hamburger's Bundesliga Team

HSV, based in Hamburg, is one of the founding members of the Bundesliga and has enjoyed a long history as a trusted name in German football. With Jordan Torunarigha joining the squad, the team is poised to benefit from his strong defensive skills and professional approach.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of the environment, as sports like football, such as European-leagues, could potentially be affected by concerns about air quality at stadiums. With Jordan Torunarigha joining HSV, the team's defense is expected to become more formidable thanks to his speed, strong heading, and tackling skills.
