Arsenal's Summer Transfers and Gabriel Jesus' Uncertain Future

As the new season approaches for Arsenal, the Gunners have been active in the transfer market, making six signings so far: Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres [1]. However, one player whose future at the club remains uncertain is Gabriel Jesus.

According to reports, Gabriel Jesus has reportedly agreed to a departure from Arsenal, but a loan deal could be explored that allows him to rehabilitate from his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury [2]. The Brazilian striker picked up the injury in January 2025 during an FA Cup match against Manchester United and is currently sidelined, with an expected return projected around late November 2025 [2].

Despite the injury, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to add another attacker to the squad before the transfer window closes [3]. However, with Gabriel Jesus' fitness concerns and increased competition for striking positions at Arsenal with new signings such as Viktor Gyokeres, it appears that a move for the striker this summer is unlikely [3].

Arsenal are also considering selling other players, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus, to raise capital [4]. However, a move for Gabriel Jesus may not be imminent, as his potential return to Brazil has "no real movement" due to his injury [4].

Flamengo have been linked with a move for Gabriel Jesus, but they are currently looking for a striker for now, not for a few months down the line [5]. Meanwhile, Brazilian club Palmeiras are unable to afford Gabriel Jesus [6].

Recent developments have shed further light on the situation regarding Gabriel Jesus' potential departure from Arsenal. Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has reported that Arsenal are yet to make significant sales this summer, and their sporting director Andrea Berta has yet to move on a major player for any kind of significant fee [7].

In the meantime, should Arsenal fail to move Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Arteta will have seven first-team forwards to choose from: Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and one of Reiss Nelson or Eberechi Eze [4].

As the transfer window continues to unfold, the future of Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal remains uncertain. The club will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his recovery and fitness, as well as the potential interest from other clubs, before making a decision on his future role.

  1. While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta considers adding another attacker to the squad, the uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Jesus' future at the club persists, as his potential return from a serious injury and increased competition for striking positions may limit a summer transfer.
  2. With European leagues already in progress and the Premier League kicking off soon, the prospect of Gabriel Jesus leaving Arsenal for a loan deal or permanent transfer becomes a speculative topic of interest for football enthusiasts across the continent, given his current injury and Arsenal's slow approach to significant player sales this season.
