Transbaikal Territory braces for –25°C freeze and snowstorms this week

Residents of the Transbaikal Territory brace for a significant cold snap, with overnight temperatures set to plummet as low as –25°C (–13°F) in the north. Snowfall is expected in several towns on November 3, accompanied by moderate winds.

The cold front will first impact the western and northern districts, with Chita, Priargunsk, Nerchinsk, and Krasnokamensk expected to see snow. Nighttime lows will range from –4°C to –18°C (25°F to 0°F) across the territory. Meanwhile, daytime temperatures will vary, from 0°C to +10°C (32°F to 50°F), with northern areas struggling to rise above freezing.

Moderate winds are forecast, with gusts up to 15–18 m/s (33–40 mph) possible in the south on November 2. Light snow is expected in western and northern districts on November 3, with northern areas seeing flurries again on November 4. The cold snap is expected to be followed by warm conditions over the weekend, as a warm air mass from Kazakhstan arrives on November 2.

The Transbaikal Territory is preparing for a significant drop in temperatures, with snowfall and strong winds expected in several areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions. After the cold snap, warmer conditions are forecast for the weekend.
