Tram-Tourist Bus Collision Injures Several Near Berlin's Alexanderplatz
A serious collision between a tram and a tourist bus near Berlin's Alexanderplatz left several people injured. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM on the Mollstraße, involving a school class from Albert-Einstein-Grundschule on the tram.
The accident caused the tram to derail, leading to hours of traffic disruptions. The bus, which was from Denmark, collided with the tram, pushing it against a power line pole. This resulted in a power outage for trams in a larger section.
Sixty firefighters rushed to the scene, with police using a drone to investigate the cause of the accident. The bus driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. At least five tram passengers and the tram driver suffered minor injuries, with some fifth-grade children from the school class among the injured.
The Mollstraße remained closed following the incident, causing significant restrictions in tram traffic affecting several lines. The destroyed tourist bus was removed in the early evening, but the tram had not yet been put back on the track.
