In the heart of Vienna-Favoriten, a water pipe burst early Wednesday morning, causing extensive traffic and water supply disruptions. The affected area was Quellenplatz, with seven houses in the Laxenburgerstraße district between Quellenplatz and Davidgasse being impacted.

Responsibility for managing Vienna's water supply lies with Wiener Wasser, and Katja Dämmrich, their spokesperson, confirmed the ongoing repair work to restore normal water supply and traffic conditions. The cause of the pipe failure, however, remains undisclosed.

Individual traffic in the Quellenplatz area was affected by the cleanup operation, with police assisting in closures and detours. The disruption for public transport was also reported, with lines 11, 6, O, and the replacement line E1 being affected due to ongoing construction work on U1.

Wiener Linien, the public transport operator, announced that the disruptions were resolved by Wednesday afternoon, although restrictions persisted until midday. The replacement line E1, in particular, was affected by the U1 construction work. By Wednesday afternoon, all affected public transport lines were able to resume operation.

The repair work is expected to last until Thursday morning at the latest, ensuring that both the water supply and traffic conditions return to normal in the Quellenplatz area of Vienna-Favoriten. For precise and up-to-date information about this specific incident, checking local news sources or official Vienna municipal websites is advisable.

The repair work, led by Wiener Wasser, is focusing on restoring the normal water supply and traffic conditions, given the failure of an environmental-science related water pipe. The disruption caused by this incident includes both individual and public transport, with lines 11, 6, O, and the replacement line E1 being affected, especially the latter due to construction work on U1.
