Jets' Quarterback Justin Fields Focuses on Team Improvement

The New York Jets have made some significant moves in the off-season, with one of the most notable being the activation of quarterback Aaron Smith from the NFI list. However, it's the young gunslinger, Justin Fields, who has taken centre stage.

Fields, who was indeed competing for the starting job with Russell Wilson last year, has been confirmed as the starting quarterback since he signed in March. The Jets' management seems to have full faith in the young talent, as evidenced by the long-term contracts they've signed with wide receiver Garrett Wilson and cornerback Sauce Gardner. The deal for Wilson is reportedly worth $32.5 million over four years, indicating a significant commitment from the team.

Coach Aaron Glenn, who has also signed Wilson and Gardner to four-year extensions, has praised Fields' consistency and character. Glenn views Wilson and Gardner as foundational jobs for the Jets, and he believes the film doesn't lie about their abilities.

During the break between the spring program and training camp, Fields invited some of his teammates to Florida for workouts. His goal was to improve his timing with his teammates and get to know them better. Fields knows the job is his this year, and not having to worry about the starting job allows him to focus more on getting better and leading the team each day.

The Jets have also strengthened their offensive line by signing OL Samuel Jackson. Despite not having played a game with Wilson and Gardner under Glenn's coaching yet, the coach is glad the deals for the two stars were done for a long-term commitment.

Glenn has a good sense of character for Wilson and Gardner based on being around them. He did not want to wait a year to sign them long term, and he is confident that the Jets have made the right moves to set themselves up for success in the upcoming season.
