Training camp for BVB brings unexpected difficulty.

Borussia Dortmund (BVB) has kicked off their training camp in Saalfelden, Austria, amidst much fan excitement due to the presence of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, whose club Al-Nassr was also previously based in the same location. However, the training camp has faced a challenging start, with the cancellation of the public training session and unfavorable pitch conditions.

Upon arrival on August 4, 2025, BVB announced the cancellation of the public training session and the absence of any test matches that week due to an "unplayable" pitch at the Saalfelden Arena. The exact reason for the pitch's condition was not detailed, but the initial training sessions started with wet conditions, as reported on August 5, 2025. The pitch usage resumed on August 6 with sunny weather and active training sessions, suggesting that the pitch was later in suitable condition for training activities.

In the midst of these challenges, BVB's 30-man squad, including striker Sébastien Haller, who is initially missing due to illness but expected to join later in the week, has been hard at work preparing for the new Bundesliga season. Young talents like Giovanni Reyna and Cole Campbell, who are seeking transfers, are also present at the camp.

It is worth noting that Al-Nassr, Ronaldo's club, left their training camp in Saalfelden five days earlier than planned due to persistent rain. To accommodate Al-Nassr and Ronaldo, second-division club Hannover 96 had to use the local sports gymnasium's pitch.

The training camp organization was handled by Daniel Fischer of the agency Onside, who cited "bad weather" as the reason for Al-Nassr's early departure. As for BVB, they will continue their preparations until Saturday. However, no information is given about any contingency plans for BVB's training sessions following the cancellation of the public training session.

In addition, several BVB players are currently injured and are present at the training camp in Austria. Unfortunately, no specific information is available about the condition or identity of these injured players.

The weather forecasts predict that the rain should ease off mid-week, hopefully paving the way for smoother training sessions and a successful start to the new season for BVB.

Despite the cancellation of the public training session and the challenging pitch conditions, Borussia Dortmund's squad has been diligently preparing for the new Bundesliga season, engaging in sports-analysis to improve their performance. Regrettably, the Commission has not yet received any information on the situation in Saalfelden, Austria, concerning the impact of the unfavorable conditions on football matches at the Training Camp.
