In a series of disturbing events, a second arson attack has occurred on the German railway line between Düsseldorf and Duisburg. The attack, which took place on Friday, follows an initial arson attack on Thursday that was claimed by a group calling itself the "Angry Birds Commando."

Thursday's attack, justified through a letter published on the left-wing platform Indymedia, was portrayed as a form of resistance against the industrial system. The incendiary device used in both attacks was of the same type, causing significant damage. Police are investigating the incidents as potential acts of sabotage, suspecting they may have been carried out simultaneously or by the same perpetrators.

The second attack was discovered on a stretch of the railway line 1.8 kilometers north of the first near the town of Angermund. As of now, no individual or group has claimed direct responsibility for Friday's incident. However, the "Angry Birds Commando," known to authorities as a left-wing extremist group, has carried out several acts of sabotage in the Dusseldorf area in recent years.

The arson attacks have caused disruptions that are expected to continue until at least Saturday morning. The German rail operator, Deutsche Bahn, has spoken of "vandalism" and warned of train diversions and delays. The disruption on the Duesseldorf-Duisburg route has knock-on effects as far as Berlin, Frankfurt, and the Netherlands. Among the train services affected are those serving Duesseldorf International Airport, Germany's fourth-busiest airport.

The city of Düsseldorf has been hit hard by these incidents. The second attack occurred hours after a fire in a cable duct caused widespread disruptions on the same stretch. The damage caused by the second attack has once again affected the railway line, adding to the already significant disruptions.

The "Angry Birds Commando" posted a statement on Indymedia, referring to "several attacks" in the Duesseldorf region. While the group has not directly claimed responsibility for Friday's incident, the similar methods used and the targeting of the same railway line suggest a possible connection.

As the investigation continues, the impact of these attacks is being felt across the transportation network, causing inconvenience and delays for thousands of travellers. The authorities are urging vigilance and are working diligently to apprehend those responsible for these acts of sabotage.

The arson attacks on the German railway line between Düsseldorf and Duisburg, potentially carried out by the "Angry Birds Commando," are gaining attention in the international media as a significant act of sabotage. The general-news and crime-and-justice sectors are closely following these events, as they have disrupted train services and caused delays for thousands of passengers, including those using Duesseldorf International Airport. The local police are investigating these incidents and suspect that the group may be responsible for both attacks despite no direct claim of responsibility for Friday's incident.
