"Train of Victory" to be united, led by a locomotive, in Krasnoyarsk Region.
To mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, the Krasnoyarsk Railway is launching a special "Victory Train," consisting of a renovated steam locomotive, a mobile exhibit, and themed carriages. The train will make stops at various stations, with each location hosting a grand celebration.
The Legendary Steam Locomotive - The Victory Express
The "Victory Train" will be pulled by a restored steam locomotive of the L series, though initially, these locomotives were known as "Pobeda" (Victory). Powerful and symbolic, these mainline steam engines produced 2,200 horsepower, making them icons of the post-war era and the country's reconstruction.
This steam locomotive returns to Krasnoyarsk this year after undergoing a major overhaul and successful test runs, giving locals the chance to see the ironworker in action and hear its unmistakable whistle.
The Valor of Weapons of Victory
The "Victory Train" is a moving exhibition featuring a renovated steam locomotive, six platforms, a heated coach, a stage coach, and a car for volunteers and actors in an agitbrigade.
The train will be adorned with special banners reading "Happy Victory Day!" which were displayed on all trains carrying supplies from Eastern Europe back to the Homeland in 1945.
On the train platforms, replicas of the Soviet army's weapons - the weapons of Victory - will be displayed. These legendary artillery pieces, including guns, anti-aircraft, and anti-tank guns, took part in key battles during World War II, helping our soldiers halt, break, and ultimately defeat the German tank army and protect our cities from air raids.
City-wide Celebration
At each Krasnoyarsk station where the train stops, a large city-wide celebration will be organized. To recapture the joy and atmosphere of spring in 1945, creative groups will join the train ride.
Attendees can expect a historical reconstruction of the arrival of the Victory Train, featuring soldiers returning from the front, a concert by the agitbrigade, and, of course, a traditional treat - kasha from field kitchens.
Note: A video showcasing the preparation for the Victory Train is also available:
Railroad workers will also share fascinating stories about the artillery pieces displayed on the train platforms and other exhibits, as well as the role the Krasnoyarsk Railway played in ensuring the front received all necessary supplies. After all, it was the continuous stream of weapons, ammunition, raw materials, and agricultural products from the deep Siberian hinterland that moved towards the West, bringing the triumph closer with every train, all part of a unified effort leading to Victory.
