"Wicked: For Good" Trailer Unleashes High-Voltage Showdown!
Trailer delivers glimpses into upcoming second installment - Trailer unveils details for upcoming sequel episode
Get ready to feast your eyes on the thrilling trailer for "Wicked: For Good," a continuation of last year's sensation, "Wicked." The star-studded cast, including Cynthia Erivo (38) as Elphaba and Ariana Grande (31) as Glinda, returns for another round of magic and mayhem.
Spoiler Alert! The first film ended with Elphaba fleeing the land of Oz, and the new trailer hints at a nail-biting showdown between these former friends. "Elphaba Thropp! I know you're out there!" shouts Ariana Grande as Glinda, before turning around to reveal Elphaba, cloaked in black witch gear. Determined, Elphaba declares, "There's no going back. This is between the Wizard and me!"
The stellar ensemble also features returning individuals such as Jonathan Bailey (37) as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum (72) as the Wizard of Oz, and Michelle Yeoh (62) as Madame Morrible.
The Magic Continues in November!
Based on Gregory Maguire's (70) novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West," the Broadway sensation has been enchanting audiences since 2003. The book is by Winnie Holzman (70), and music by Stephen Schwartz (77). For the film adaptation, the creative team reunited, joined by director Jon M. Chu (45). With an abundance of source material, the story was divided into two movies.
The first part was nothing short of amazing. "Variety" reported that "Wicked" became the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation of all time, surpassing "Mamma Mia" from 2008. The film also swept the awards season, scoring wins for costume and production design. "Wicked: For Good" will hit German theaters on November 20, 2025.
The Fractured Friendship Unfolds
The plot revolves around the strained bond between Elphaba and Glinda. Elphaba, the so-called Wicked Witch, lives in exile within the Ozian forest, continuing her mission to free Oz's silenced Animals and uncover the truth about the Wizard. Glinda, now a symbol of virtue in Oz, resides at the palace in Emerald City and revels in the glitz and glamour under Madame Morrible's guidance.
As Glinda prepares to wed Fiyero, she attempts to reconcile with Elphaba, but their friendship crumbles further. The story also involves Boq (played by Ethan Slater) and Nessarose (played by Marissa Bode), with a dramatic twist when a girl from Kansas arrives to complicate matters.
This electrifying second part brings the story of the witches of Oz to a close, promising an emotional rollercoaster ride that fans won't want to miss!
