Trailer Unveiled for The Office Spin-off: Familiar Character Makes a Reappearance Teaser
The world of Dunder Mifflin is expanding, as a new sitcom titled "The Paper" is set to premiere on Peacock on September 4, 2025. This spin-off series, which is a follow-up to the beloved sitcom "The Office," promises to bring back some familiar faces and introduce new characters to the mockumentary universe.
"The Paper" is set in the historic Midwestern newspaper, The Toledo Truth Teller, and follows the staff as they navigate the challenges of the modern news industry. The main cast includes Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, a newly hired staffer and the new editor-in-chief of the newspaper. Other notable characters include Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmeralda, the no-nonsense managing editor who uses clickbait journalism, and Oscar Nuñez, who reprises his role from "The Office" as Oscar.
The newsroom team is rounded out by Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, and Tim Key, who take on various roles such as staff reporters and editors. Additionally, recurring cast members include Tracy Letts, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Allan Havey.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of "The Office," co-created "The Paper" with "Nathan For You's" Michael Koman. Daniels also directed the pilot for "The Paper," ensuring a seamless transition to the new series.
"The Paper" first gained popularity through the sitcom "The Office," which ran for nine seasons on NBC from 2005 to 2013. The show's characters, including Oscar Martinez's character, Oscar, expressed their disagreement with the documentary crew, adding an authentic touch to the mockumentary style.
The staff at The Toledo Truth Teller is inexperienced, with one staffer having written a paper in junior high and another having tweeting experience. Despite these challenges, they are eager to revitalize the struggling Midwestern newspaper. Oscar Martinez's character, Oscar, is hesitant about the changes at the Toledo Truth Teller, but his presence from the original series adds a sense of continuity to the new show.
Fans of "The Office" can look forward to two new episodes of "The Paper" streaming every Thursday, starting from September 4, 2025. With its engaging characters, familiar setting, and a fresh take on the news industry, "The Paper" is set to be an exciting addition to the Peacock lineup.
