"Wicked: For Good" Unveils Second Act Saber-Rattling in New Trailer

Teaser unveils insights for upcoming sequel - Trailer reveals details about subsequent chapter

Get ready, theater enthusiasts! The long-awaited trailer for the second installment of "Wicked: For Good" has arrived. Last December, the premier of the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical "Wicked" brought Cynthia Erivo (38) as Elphaba and Ariana Grande (31) as Glinda to billboards and soundstages across the globe. Fast-forward to now, with YouTube releasing the tantalizing sneak peek into the second part of this prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" - and it's safe to say that audiences are in for another wild ride.

The first film concluded with our protagonist, Elphaba, darting away from Oz, donning her infamous black witch's costume. The latest trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the evolution of an unlikely friendship gone sour, as our leading ladies face each other, with Glinda calling out to Elphaba, "Elphaba Thropp, I know you're out there," before turning to reveal her former best friend in full witch regalia. "There's no going back. This is between the Wizard and me," the Wicked Witch of the West declares, standing tall.

In addition to our beloved leads, familiar faces gracing the big screen once again include Jonathan Bailey (37) as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum (72) reprising his role as the Wizard of Oz, and Michelle Yeoh (62) embodying Madame Morrible.

"Wicked: For Good" Lands in Theaters This Fall

Based on Gregory Maguire's (70) novel "Wicked - The Witches of Oz," the Broadway musical adaptation has bewitched spectators since 2003. The book by Winnie Holzman (70), with music by Stephen Schwartz (77), has now teamed up once more with director Jon M. Chu (45) for the cinematic adaptation of this fantasy reimagining. Due to the extensive lore, the story has been split into two films to ensure no stone is left unturned.

The first installment proved to be a worldwide smash hit - "Variety" reports that "Wicked" holds the title as the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in cinematic history, eclipsing "Mamma Mia" from 2008. Moreover, the film's tantalizing costumes and immersive production design earned it two Oscars. The highly anticipated sequel is set to grace German screens on November 20, 2025.
