Tragic typhoon claims young couple after floodwaters destroy their home

A devastating typhoon has claimed the lives of a young couple, Junalyn Candol Borbajo and Myron Arenas Borbajo, from Barangay Paril. Their bodies were discovered in the rivers of Manyapyap, several kilometers from their destroyed home. The couple's young daughter was fortunately away from the incident.

Typhoon Tino struck late Monday night, Nov. 4, 2025, causing floodwaters to surge and destroy the Borbajo family's home depot. Junalyn and Myron had chosen to stay behind to secure their home depot and check on Junalyn's father, who lived nearby. Tragically, they were swept away by the sudden rush of floodwaters from the overflowing river.

Rescuers suspect that Junalyn's father may also have been caught in the floodwaters. Search and retrieval operations are ongoing to locate him. The couple's daughter was brought to the city for safety before the typhoon and was not at home during the incident.

The bodies of Junalyn and Myron have been recovered, and search efforts continue for her father. The family's home depot was destroyed, and the community mourns their loss. The young daughter is now in the care of loved ones in the city.
