A vigil was held in York County on September 18, 2023, to honour the memory of three police officers who lost their lives in a tragic shooting incident in North Codorus Township on September 17. The vigil, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Holy Infant Church in Manchester, was a call for unity and healing within the community.

The shooting occurred while York County law enforcement officials were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a farm in North Codorus Township. The shooter, a suspected stalker, opened fire on the officers during the operation, leading to a series of gunfire. The suspect was subsequently shot by an officer.

Bishop Timothy C. Senior of Harrisburg expressed deep sadness over the incident, stating, "I ask for Christ, the Prince of Peace, to bring comfort to those who are suffering and guide the community towards healing and unity." He also called on the community to join him in prayers for healing for the injured officers and comfort for the families of the deceased officers.

Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered flags to be lowered in memory of the fallen officers, expressing gratitude towards law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice. He stated, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the officers who lost their lives, the injured officers, and the entire law enforcement community."

The Northern York County Regional Police Department issued a statement asking the community to keep the officers, their families, and their colleagues in their thoughts and prayers during this time of unimaginable grief. The vigil, being held under the auspices of the Diocese of Harrisburg, was open to the public.

Bishop Senior issued a statement expressing condolences and prayers for the families of the deceased officers, the injured officers, and the law enforcement community. He stated, "We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and we stand with our law enforcement community in their time of need."

The vigil was a show of support and condolences for the families and colleagues of the deceased officers. It was a poignant reminder of the risks that law enforcement officers take every day to keep our communities safe. The community is encouraged to continue to keep the families of the fallen officers, the injured officers, and the entire law enforcement community in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
