Tragic Events Unfold: Teenage Boys Meet Violent End in Machete Attack on Their Way Home from Basketball; Speechlessness Prevails
In the peaceful town of Cobblebank, the community is in mourning following the sudden and tragic deaths of two young boys, Dau Akueng and Chol Achiek.
The 12-year-old Chol was remembered by his family and friends for his care for others, particularly his respect for the elders in his life. Ayen Lual, Chol's mother, described him as an intelligent, warm-hearted boy who lit up the room with his smile and loving nature.
Dau Akueng, a basketball player with a knack for joking around and making friends, was grieved by his father, Elbino Akueng, who stated that his son was not a criminal. Elbino issued a plea for justice hours after Dau's death, expressing his concern that four other children have died in similar incidents this month, yet there has been no answer from the police regarding justice.
Commissioner O'Brien paid tribute to the Good Samaritan locals who rushed to the aid of the boys following the attacks, potentially risking their own safety. In response to community concerns, police have increased patrols in Cobblebank.
Seven teens aged 15-19 have been arrested over the deaths of Dau Akueng and Chol Achiek, but the families of the arrested youths have not been publicly disclosed.
