Tragic end of Casey-Louise, 13, and her baby sister: photos reveal Casey holding her baby in her last moments; arrest and release of a suspect over accusations of rape and murder
Casey-Louise Horrocks, a 13-year-old girl, was found unresponsive by emergency services in Huddersfield on August 11, 2025. Sadly, she passed away in the hospital the following day. The death is currently being treated as "unexplained" as an initial post-mortem was inconclusive. West Yorkshire Police's Homicide team is leading the investigation, and a safeguarding rapid review is planned due to Casey-Louise's status in the care system.
Casey-Louise was deeply loved and will be greatly missed, according to her friends' posts online. Her friends and relatives have been sharing memories of her, including new photographs of Casey-Louise, such as one of her cradling what is believed to be her baby sister, Mia.
The suspect in this tragic case is a 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of Casey-Louise's rape and murder and the alleged rape of another local girl, aged 16. He has since been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries. Neighbours have reported that the suspect has been behaving casually since his arrest.
Huddersfield MP Harpreet Uppal has expressed his condolences and stated he is being updated on the investigation. Mossley Hollins High School, where Casey-Louise was a pupil, has also expressed their grief over her death. Pupils will be offered emotional support when they return to school in September.
A GoFundMe fundraising site was set up for Casey-Louise's funeral, with over £2,000 donated so far. Among those leaving their thoughts on the online tribute site were Casey-Louise's 'best mate' Cole, her Auntie Dani, and others.
Casey-Louise was originally from Manchester but was living in Liverpool at the time of her death. She was visiting Huddersfield at the time of her death. Our thoughts are with Casey-Louise's family and friends during this difficult time.
