Tragic Deaths of Children Persist in Gaza, Global Community Remains Quiet

A Wake-up Call in Nuseirat Refugee Camp on April 30th

The sun hadn't even risen properly on the Nuseirat refugee camp, yet the morning was disrupted by the deafening roar of explosions. The Israeli airstrikes targeted residential areas once more, leaving a trail of smoke, rubble, and innocent lives shattered. Reports from Liter.kz, backed by Euronews, confirm the deaths of three children among the civilians.

According to medical records, the bloodshed of April 30th claimed at least 35 Palestinian lives, and over 100 were left injured. The grieving community was forced to hastily bury their loved ones, barely having the chance to mourn those lost the day before.

"Since March 18, Israel has been hammering Gaza relentlessly. Homes, shelters, and even markets have been reduced to rubble. Not only militants, but also families have found themselves in Israel's crosshairs. For nearly two months, a suffocating blockade has been in place, with barely any food, water, or medicine reaching the sector," notes the publication.

Hunger Pangs and Hollow Prayers

Humanitarian organizations have grim news: food supplies are running critically low. The UN's OCHA warns that emergency shelter kits will be depleted in the near future. Tents are scarce, and many are forced to sleep out in the open.

The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) has already drained its reserves of hygiene materials and emergency shelter items. Only seven hospitals and four field hospitals manage to operate, but they are overwhelmed with patients. Mothers are giving birth under harsh conditions, while newborns arrive underweight. Even the medical staff are battling malnutrition themselves.

Humanitarian Crisis: Urgency, Meet Despair

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issues a sobering reminder that using hunger as a weapon against civilian populations is a war crime. Yet, the cries for humanity are drowned out by explosions.

Israel's Justification: A Tough Call

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintains that the operation in Gaza is indispensable. Let's take a glimpse back in time to October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants carried out attacks on southern Israel, resulting in 1,200 fatalities and the capture of 251 hostages. Today, Israeli authorities report that 59 hostages remain captive, with 24 potentially still alive.

Most hostages were released during ceasefires, but the war persists.
