Tragic day in Weyhe: Fatal river incident and bus crash injure two
Two serious incidents unfolded in Weyhe, Diepholz, on Monday. A fatality was recorded after a man was pulled from the Weser River, while a collision between a bus and a driving school car left two people injured. Authorities are treating the cases as separate events with no apparent connection.
In the early evening, emergency services recovered the body of a man from the Weser River near Dreyer Harbor. Investigators believe he deliberately drove into the water. A farewell letter was found, and he had not turned up for work that day. His identity has not been released.
Earlier, at the intersection of Melchiorshauser Straße, B6, and Ristedter Straße, a public transit bus collided with a driving school vehicle. The 64-year-old bus driver reportedly failed to notice the smaller car before impact. The crash caused minor injuries to the 27-year-old instructor and his 17-year-old student. The total damage to both vehicles is estimated at around €18,000. Police are reviewing the circumstances of the collision, while the river incident remains under investigation as a suspected suicide.
The bus driver's oversight led to a road accident with two casualties and significant vehicle damage. Meanwhile, the recovery of the man's body from the river confirms a tragic outcome. Authorities continue to examine both incidents separately.
