Traffic disruption on A46 towards Neuss on Friday morning due to a truck fire near Eller, Dusseldorf

In the early hours of January 3rd, a fire broke out in a container attached to a truck on the A46, near the Holthausen exit, heading towards Neuss. The driver of the truck managed to stop the vehicle before the Werstener Tunnel, preventing a potential fire there with more far-reaching consequences.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the metal scrap in the container on fire. Immediately, they began their operations to extinguish the blaze and separate the container from the truck. The highway was fully closed in the direction of Neuss due to heavy smoke from the fire.

Fortunately, the traffic disruption was kept to a minimum due to the current holiday season. Under normal working conditions, this time of day would have resulted in kilometer-long traffic jams. The highway remained closed until approximately 9 AM due to the necessity of clearing the scrap and cleaning the roadway.

Thankfully, the fire did not cause any injuries. Once the firefighting operations were successful in removing the metal scrap from the container, the left lane was reopened later in the day. The disruption was later reduced to the left lane only.

Despite the incident, the search results do not provide information about the driver of the truck who discovered the fire at Beilad near the Holthausen exit of the A46. The container was successfully separated from the truck for firefighting operations. The firefighting operations were successful in removing the metal scrap from the container.

The quick response from the emergency services and the timely action from the truck driver ensured that what could have been a major incident was contained and managed effectively, causing minimal disruption and no injuries.
