Tractor enthusiast Stephen Kempfer declares his decision to step down

Defenseman Steve Kampfer, a former Boston Bruins Stanley Cup champion, announced his retirement today, according to the team's press service.

Kampfer, who started his professional career in 2006, spent approximately five years in the National Hockey League (NHL). His debut season coincided with the Bruins' championship win in 2011. In 234 total NHL games, Kampfer scored 15 goals and registered 24 assists, accumulating a total of 39 points.

After a stint in the NHL, Kampfer joined the Traktor hockey club in Chelyabinsk, Russia, in 2024. With Traktor, he won the KHL Championship's silver medal during the 2024-2025 season.

The club's management expressed gratitude for Kampfer's professional attitude and significant contributions to their team.

Steve Kampfer played 231 NHL games, recording 15 goals and 24 assists for a total of 39 points during his NHL career. However, there are no records indicating that he won a KHL Championship, despite spending part of his later career in the KHL.

His most recent season, before stepping away from the game, was with a KHL team, where he achieved notable stats (10 goals, 22 assists, 32 points in 59 games). Unfortunately, his KHL team did not capture the Gagarin Cup (KHL Championship) during that period.

In his NHL career spanning approximately five years, Steve Kampfer, a former Boston Bruins Stanley Cup champion, notched 15 goals and 24 assists, accumulating a total of 39 points in 231 games. Despite a successful stint in the KHL, notably with a team where he tallied 32 points in 59 games, Kampfer did not win a KHL Championship during his time in Russia.
