Subaru and Lexus Lead in 2024 ACSI Automobile Study

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Automobile Study 2024 has revealed Subaru as the top-performing brand in the mass-market segment, with an impressive ACSI score of 85. Lexus, on the other hand, shines in the luxury segment, scoring 87 [1][2][3].

In the mass-market segment, Subaru's 2% increase in score is attributed to its emphasis on safety, dependability, and timely product updates, such as the redesigned Forester and enhanced Crosstrek models [4]. Toyota and Mazda tie for second place with scores of 82, while Buick, GMC, and Honda follow closely around 81. Stellantis brands, including Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, and Ram, ranked lowest in satisfaction [4].

The luxury segment saw Lexus significantly improve by 6%, surpassing competitors primarily due to strong hybrid sales and electrified vehicle offerings [1][2][3]. Mercedes-Benz placed second with 82, followed by Tesla and Cadillac, who tied for third at 81. Audi scored 77, and BMW, despite its strong offerings, scored the lowest at 75, dropping 5% from the prior year [1][2][3].

The overall luxury segment score declined slightly by 1% to 80, while the mass-market segment remained steady at 79. Hybrid and electric vehicles showed lower satisfaction in some metrics, especially expected resale value and driving range, influencing these scores [1][2][3][4].

However, hybrid drivers in the luxury segment are more satisfied than gasoline or electric vehicle drivers, with an ACSI score of 82. This indicates that consumers seek a balance between environmental consciousness and practical needs, as evidenced by the rapid growth in hybrid sales [6].

In summary, the top-performing brands in the mass-market segment are Subaru (85), Toyota and Mazda (82), Buick, GMC, and Honda (81). In the luxury segment, Lexus leads with 87, followed by Mercedes-Benz (82), Tesla and Cadillac (81), Audi (80), and BMW (80) [7].

The "all others" measure has increased by 7%, lifting the industry's overall ACSI score to 80 [8]. Ford, Volkswagen, and Ram have strong ACSI gains with scores of 79, 78, and 77 respectively in the mass-market segment. Lincoln maintains its ACSI score of 79 in the luxury segment, while Acura falls 3% to an ACSI score of 77 [8].

Chrysler has an ACSI score of 71 in the mass-market segment, and the mass-market segment's ACSI score remains unchanged at 79. The luxury segment's ACSI score remains unchanged at 81. Audi remains steady at 80 in the luxury segment, and Subaru and Toyota tie for first place in the mass-market segment with an ACSI score of 83 [9]. Honda is third in the mass-market segment with an ACSI score of 82 [9].
