2025 Maui Invitational Set to Showcase Competitive Field
The 2025 Maui Invitational is gearing up to be an exciting event, with a competitive field of teams set to compete at the Lahaina Civic Center from November 24 to 26, 2025. The tournament will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, providing fans with the opportunity to watch all the action.
One of the most anticipated matchups of the tournament will see North Carolina State taking on Seton Hall in the opening game. Both teams are looking to improve on their previous seasons, with NC State bringing in new coach Will Wade after a disappointing follow-up to a 2024 Final Four showing, and Seton Hall looking to build on a seven-win season.
Texas will also be in action, as they make their return to the Maui Invitational. The Longhorns last participated in the event in 2020, when it was held in Asheville, NC due to COVID-19 precautions. Sean Miller, who led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament in 2021, will be at the helm for Texas this time around.
The Longhorns will face off against Arizona State in the fourth first-round showdown of the tournament. Meanwhile, Chaminade Silverswords, a Division II school based in Honolulu, will be the tournament hosts and will face Washington State in their first game.
Chaminade's participation in the Maui Invitational is always a highlight of the event, due to their legendary 1982 upset of then-No. 1 Virginia. The Silverswords will also have a chance to repeat history, as they have previously defeated Texas in the Maui Invitational, with a win in 2012.
Boise State is another team to watch, as they look to gain experience against power conference schools after missing out on the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos fell in the Mountain West title game and were one of the first four teams left out of the tournament. They will face off against the University of Southern California in the second first-round showdown of the tournament.
Dave Odom, tournament chairman and three-time ACC Coach of the Year, stated that the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational features a competitive field. Fans can expect an exciting tournament, with each game providing a potential upset.
