Tourists from Omsk frequently encounter road mishaps as reported by insurance companies
Insurance Analysis Reveals Prevalence of Road Accidents Involving Tourists Across Russia
Insurance company VSK Insurance House has disclosed the percentage of automobile accidents involving tourists in Russia, as per a report by "Izvestia." A considerable 22% of OСАГO insurance cases stem from such incidents.
Leading the list is Moscow, with 6.9% of the total incidents occurring within the city. Following closely are the Novosibirsk region (6%), Krasnodar Krai + Sochi (5.4%), Moscow region (4.5%), St. Petersburg (3.8%), Omsk (3.8%), and Bashkortostan (3.7%).
Three areas where tourists feel comparatively safe on the roads were also identified. Only less than 1% of road accidents were recorded in Kaliningrad, Tula, and the Stavropol Krai.
When considering the overall safety of roads for tourists in Russia, it's worth considering that tourists from Moscow are among those most frequently involved in accidents. High-traffic areas, such as major cities and popular tourist destinations, might have greater risks due to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Conversely, less populated areas or regions with fewer tourists might see lower rates of accidents involving tourists, although data specific to these factors is scarce.
Additional factors for tourists to consider when traveling in Russia include current travel advisories and environmental issues. Due to the ongoing military conflict with Ukraine and security concerns, many countries advise against traveling to Russia. Places like the Black Sea coast are experiencing environmental problems that might affect tourist activities, though these are not directly related to road safety.
For exact information on the road accident rates in specific regions, it is recommended to consult local Russian authorities or insurance companies.
