A Russian adventurer met a tragic end while exploring the rugged waters near Vardzia, a renowned cave monastery in southern Georgia.

According to reports, our fellow traveler hopped into the river by boat, but failed to make it back to shore. Rescue teams had been scouring the river since yesterday.

The Emergency Management Agency confirmed today that his lifeless body was found in the river.

"Apparently, he was on a kayak, rammed into a rock, and blacked out. The rescuers located him, dragged him out - he was already gone," a local resident disclosed to journalists.
