Rewritten Article:
Get ready, cycling fans! The Romanian Cycling Federation (FRC) has just spilled the beans on the upcoming Tour of Romania in 2025, set to kick off a pedal-pumping adventure across the stunning landscapes of Romania.
On a thrilling Thursday, March 27, the FRC hosted an event at the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry to unveil the dates and route for the much-anticipated event. This year's Tour is set to be a rollercoaster ride that will make your heart race, with a total of 26 teams gearing up for the challenge.
The 860-kilometer ride will begin on September 10 in Craiova and wrap up in the heart of Bucharest on September 14, featuring a whopping five stages. The team presentation and opening ceremony will take place a day before in Craiova, setting the stage for the action-packed journey ahead.
Last year's Tour was every bit as exhilarating, with a length of over 800 km, attracting more than 150 cyclists, and amassing a jaw-dropping audience of over 6 million viewers.
FRC president, Cătălin Sprînceană, was all smiles as he addressed the crowd, describing the tour as small in comparison to international standards but brimming with potential to grow. He also highlighted the tour's role in showcasing Romania's dazzling natural beauty and diverse regions.
Each stage of the 2025 Tour will leave you in awe, as it winds its way through regions that embody the essence of Romania, from the artisanal charm of Horezu to the enchanting landscapes around Lake Siriu, over the impressive new Brăila Bridge, and culminating in the bustling capital.
Bogdan Matei, president of the National Sports Agency, echoed Sprînceană's sentiment and assured participants that support for the Tour of Romania will be unwavering. "ANS has both the gumption and determination to back Romanian cycling and stand proud as true ambassadors of Romania," he said.
The launch event was attended by a host of cycling stars set to compete in the Tour later this year. Among them, the Romanian national squad was presented by Greek coach Iorgos Georgiadis. He promised a powerhouse team with Ion Dobrin, national youth champion; Denis Piciu, last year's Balkan champion; Tudor Cazaceanu, a force to be reckoned with in mountain biking; and Mihnea Harasim, Romania's upcoming road cycling sensation. The team has also been actively nurturing female athletes, with champions like Cătălina Cătineanu and Ana Gheorghe leading the charge.
Massimo Baggi, the Swiss Ambassador to Romania, shared his enthusiasm for the sport, emphasizing that its values transcend borders and are much-needed in times of uncertainty. "In Romania, you are doing some truly beautiful projects that align with these ideals. Switzerland stands with you to make them a resounding success," he said.
In addition to the main event, the 2025 Tour of Romania will feature races for children and amateurs. This is an exciting development for Romanian cycling, with two amateur races lined up – one between Dichiu Pass and Piatra Arsă, and another in Bucharest, following the official competition route.
