Tour de France Femmes sees Maeva Squiban clinching consecutive stage victories, as top contenders end the race in a draw
In a thrilling display of climbing and attacking prowess, 23-year-old Maeva Squiban has claimed consecutive stage victories at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The Brittany native's impressive solo attacks have made her a breakout star of the event, delivering France's first stage win and following it up immediately with another.
Squiban's victories on Stage 6 in Ambert and Stage 7 in Chambéry mark a significant moment in her career, coming after a challenging 2022 debut hampered by injury. On Stage 7, Squiban took the points on the Côte de Berland and the Côte de Saint-Franc, while a 17-rider breakaway including Lotte Kopecky, Chloé Dygert, and Ruth Edwards pushed ahead. With 29km to go, 13 riders remained out front, but Squiban, Mareille Meijering, and Edwards pushed on, and Squiban dropped everyone else to go solo towards the top of the Col du Granier.
The peloton brought the break's advantage down towards the finish, but it was too little, too late. Squiban crossed the line first, securing her second consecutive stage win.
Soraya Paladin crashed and abandoned the race with over 100km to go on day seven, but other top contenders, such as Kim Le Court, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, Demi Vollering, and Anna van der Breggen, remained in the race.
In the general classification after Stage 7, Le Court maintains the lead, with Ferrand-Prévot in second, Niewiadoma-Phinney in third, Vollering in fourth, and van der Breggen in fifth. The UAE Team ADQ, who lost their leader Elisa Longho Borghini before Stage 3, are no doubt grateful for Squiban's turnaround in their Tour de France campaign.
