Tough Times for the Rangers in Toronto as the Blue Jays Give Them a Run for Their Money
Toronto, August 15, 2025 — Myles Straw, a 30-year-old Californian, lit up the Rogers Centre with a spectacular performance as the Blue Jays thrashed the Texas Rangers 14-2.
Straw's heroics began early in the second inning, where he smashed a three-run home run, putting the Blue Jays up 4-0. The home run marked Straw's first career two-home run game and contributed significantly to his impressive five points on the day.
Joining Straw in the home run parade was Davis Schneider, who hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and Alejandro Kirk, who added a two-run homer in the same inning. Kirk also had a crucial two-run single in the eighth inning, helping the Blue Jays overcome a deficit and secure their 6-5 comeback victory.
Schneider was not only impressive at the plate but also in the field. In the fifth inning, he made a brilliant catch in left field, diving to snag Jake Burger's liner and save potential runs for the Blue Jays.
Meanwhile, on the mound, Eric Lauer (8-2) pitched a stellar game, giving up just one point and four hits in eight innings. Conversely, Patrick Corbin (6-9) struggled for the Rangers, allowing seven points, eight hits, and two walks in two and a third innings.
The Rogers Centre was filled with 42,686 enthusiastic fans who witnessed this lopsided victory. Notably, George Springer returned to the game after an absence of more than two weeks due to a concussion. He went 1 for 4 in the game, but his presence was undoubtedly a boost for the Blue Jays.
In a separate development, on Friday, George Springer hit a home run in rehab with the Buffalo Bisons.
As the season progresses, the Blue Jays will face the Rangers again on Sunday, with Nate Eovaldi and Jose Berrios set to take the mound for each team. The Blue Jays will undoubtedly be looking to continue their winning streak, with the momentum provided by Straw's exceptional performance.
