Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min sheds tears in an emotional goodbye to a former team legend during his final match.

Son Heung-Min, the beloved Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, concluded his decade-long tenure with the club in an emotional farewell match held in his native South Korea. The pre-season friendly against Newcastle United ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams paying a heartfelt tribute to Son during his substitution.

The Seoul World Cup Stadium was filled with nearly 65,000 fans, who watched as Son was embraced by Spurs midfielder James Maddison and North London winger Brennan Johnson. Actor Park Seo-Joon also gave a touching tribute to Son before the game.

Son, who described the moment as a "perfect moment" and something he will never forget, expressed deep gratitude to fans, players, and Tottenham's head coach for their support throughout his career. He was visibly emotional during the tribute, even shedding tears.

Following the farewell match, Son officially left Tottenham to join Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC in a record MLS deal reportedly worth around $26 million. His departure marks the end of an era for Spurs, who now face the challenge of replacing his leadership and significant goal involvement.

In his goodbye remarks, Son praised the club and teammates, wished Tottenham success in upcoming competitions, and confirmed his respect and gratitude towards all involved with his time at the club. He also acknowledged the support of the manager, who understood Son’s situation and future plans.

The farewell event was not only a personal milestone for Son but also a significant occasion for the club and supporters, marking the departure of one of Tottenham’s most iconic players. The crowd went wild as Son hugged everyone on the Tottenham bench and wept. A banner in the crowd read 'Sonny the Spurs legend'.

The game itself saw some unexpected moments, with both Newcastle's Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes involved in the tributes for Son. Harvey Barnes scored to level the game three minutes before Romero and Guimaraes' scuffle. Some fans were in disbelief by the amount of mistakes being made during the game.

James Maddison was injured 19 minutes later following a routine challenge, causing concern for Son. Premier League goalkeeper Antonín Kinský ran up to take part in the tributes for Son Heung-Min. Spurs will kick off their Premier League campaign away to Burnley on August 16.

As Son Heung-Min's final Tottenham appearance came to an end, he was given an impromptu guard of honor by his team-mates and Newcastle players. Spurs' admin tweeted "Cheers Son's crying, nice one" after Son was substituted. Son looked very concerned watching Maddison being stretchered off.

Son Heung-Min is widely-tipped to move to MLS side LAFC. Last season's Carabao Cup winners Newcastle will welcome Aston Villa to St James' Park. Brennan Johnson did Son's trademark 'camera pose' celebration after scoring the opener.

As Son embarks on a new chapter in his career, he leaves behind a lasting legacy at Tottenham Hotspur. His contributions to the club, both on and off the pitch, will not be forgotten.
