Heavy Flooding Hits Loei Province in Thailand

Typhoon Mitag has caused a flash flood in the Phu Ruea district of Loei province, trapping a vehicle in Ban Samran, Tha Sala sub-district. The incident occurred on a village road due to persistent downpour, with the floodwaters covering the car almost entirely.

The Meteorological Department of Thailand has issued weather warnings for Loei Province and several other regions, including the lower Northern, upper Central, and Northeastern parts of the country. The department forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms due to ongoing monsoon conditions, with the monsoon trough shifting to cover the areas mentioned in the warning.

The flooding was so severe that residents had to work together to pull the car out of the flood using a tractor. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

The tropical storm Mitag is also expected to affect southern China, potentially influencing the heavy rainfall in Thailand. This incident in Ban Samran is the most recent flash flood in Thailand due to heavy rainfall.

The department has extended these warnings given the continuing risk of flooding and severe weather in northeastern Thailand, including Loei. The incident highlights the destructive power of typhoons and serves as a reminder for residents to stay vigilant during monsoon season.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation closely and issue updates as necessary.
