Heavy monsoon rains to be brought by the LPA and 'habagat' system across the Philippines, according to recent forecasts.

Torrential rains anticipated across the Philippines due to Trough of Low-Pressure Area (LPA) and 'habagat' weather system.

This week, the Philippines is bracing for a significant increase in rainfall, primarily in areas influenced by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

The LPA, currently near the country, is strengthening the southwest monsoon, leading to moderate to heavy rains with possible thunderstorms mainly over the western seaboards of Luzon and Visayas. These weather conditions may result in localized flooding in susceptible areas.

Western Luzon provinces, including Ilocos, Central Luzon, and Metro Manila, as well as Western Visayas, Palawan, and Mindoro are likely to be the most affected. There is also a possibility of rainfall affecting parts of Mindanao on the western side.

Residents in these regions are advised to stay alert for weather advisories due to the increased risk of flooding and landslides from persistent rains.

Elsewhere in the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected. The trough of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Ilocos, Cordillera regions, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands. Slight to moderate seas will be present over the rest of the archipelago.

For the latest weather updates, residents are encouraged to follow the daily and weekly public forecasts from PAGASA weather specialists and bulletins on the ongoing weather systems affecting the country. Stay safe and stay informed!

The strengthening LPA and southwest monsoon are anticipated to intensify the weather conditions in Manila, leading to heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms, as advised by the weather-forecasting authorities. Residents in the western regions such as Ilocos, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Palawan, Mindoro, and even western Mindanao are at risk of localized flooding and landslides due to the increased rainfall.
