Torrential rain causes tragedy in Uttarakhand's Chamoli: 2 lives lost, 6 people unaccounted for; key highlights
In the aftermath of a devastating fog storm in the district of Chamoli, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has taken the helm of the rescue missions. Over 200 people have been affected by the disaster, leaving communities in need of urgent aid.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has been actively involved in the situation, directing officials to restore essential services such as roads, drinking water supply, electricity, and network connectivity. Adequate arrangements are being made for food, shelter, drinking water, and other basic amenities, including medical assistance, for the affected people.
Following a cloudburst in the region, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation and spoke with Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari through video conferencing. The NDRF and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have already reached the affected areas, working tirelessly to conduct search and rescue operations and provide relief.
Tragically, thirty-three houses, several shops, and cowsheds were destroyed by debris in four villages. The community is facing significant hardship, but efforts are being made to ensure their immediate needs are met.
Search and rescue, as well as relief operations, are currently underway, with the NDRF and SDRF teams working diligently to locate those still missing and provide support to the affected communities. The Uttarakhand government is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those impacted by this disaster.
